The next news:rewired digital journalism conference, which takes place on Friday 20 September, will cover a range of subjects, including breaking news, verification, mapping and online video.

The agenda will also offer a variation of session styles, from panel discussions and case-study presentations, to more practical workshops.

One of the workshops which will be on offer to delegates at the event will focus on LinkedIn, giving delegates a run-through of the different features available to help them in their news.

Other workshops running at news:rewired will include one dedicated to verification tools and techniques, run by Storyful’s Claire Wardle, and another detailing some of the key mapping tools for journalists working on data visualisations, run by data editor for the Guardian, James Ball.

Last week we announced the first of the subjects to be covered at the next news:rewired digital journalism conference, which returns to MSN UK’s offices in Victoria, London, on Friday 20 September.

news:rewired is a one-day digital journalism conference run by Journalism.co.uk. September’s event will be our tenth news:rewired, and will focus on key innovations from newsrooms in the UK and abroad, the latest tools being harnessed by digital journalists and best practice pointers from industry experts. The event is aimed at anyone with an interest in the latest digital journalism techniques and staying ahead of the curve.

The event will be attended by around 200-250 people, and will feature topical panel discussions, inspiring case studies and practical workshops with a focus on key tools and skills. And don’t just take our word for it – here are a collection of testimonials from just some of our previous delegates.

Here at Journalism.co.uk we’ve been busy working on ideas for our next news:rewired digital journalism conference, which takes place in London on Friday 20 September.

It is our tenth event, the second so far in 2013, and we’re planning a jam-packed day of inspiring presentations, practical workshops and expert tips and techniques.

We will continue to work on the agenda during the coming weeks, but for now, here are just a few of the subjects we plan to cover on the day:

• breaking news and crisis journalism
• verification tools and techniques

We will be announcing more details on the agenda and speaker line-up soon.

In the meantime, to get an idea of the usual format, you can still view the programme from our most recent event, which was on Friday 19 April, which included a keynote speech by Facebook’s journalism programme manager Vadim Lavrusik and speakers from the Economist, Channel 4 News, Washington Post, ProPublica, Financial Times and many more.

If you’re interested in attending the one-day event on Friday 20 September, which will be held in London at MSN UK’s offices in Victoria, then you can buy limited early bird discount tickets for just £95 +VAT.

As well as the discounted conference-only ticket (for £95 +VAT) there is also the option of a ‘news:rewired plus’ ticket, at an early bird discount rate of £280 +VAT, which gives entry to news:rewired on Friday 20 September as well as access to a Journalism.co.uk training course the day before (Thursday 19 September).

Delegates can choose from the three training courses below, to attend on the Thursday:

A new online platform for the buying and selling of freelance content Newsmodo was launched at Journalism.co.uk’s digital journalism conference news:rewired last month.

The final session of the day at Journalism.co.uk’s digital journalism conference news:rewired last month (which returns on Friday 20 September this year), featured a discussion on online journalism ethics and standards.

The panel featured: Tom Standage, digital editor, the Economist; Jenny Rigby, social media and special projects producer, Channel 4 News; Sean Ingle, sports editor, Guardian.co.uk; Martin Bryant, managing editor, The Next Web.

The discussion covered subjects such as best practice in social media interactions and use of content from such platforms, approached to online corrections and linking policy.

At Journalism.co.uk’s digital journalism conference news:rewired last month, a lightning round introduced delegates to a number of new tools and technology in the digital journalism world.

Editor of recently-launched Tech City News Alex Wood started with an overview of three new tools which could be of use to digital journalists, followed by Anthony Sheehan‘s introduction to Near You Now and David Tomchak, who discussed new video app Vizibee.

A panel of experts in building news communities came together at news:rewired on Friday 19 April to discuss best practice in turning communities into active contributors – and why.

The panel featured:

The opening joint session at Journalism.co.uk’s digital journalism conference news:rewired looked at the role of journalists as curators of the content both on their own news outlet’s platforms and the wider web.

The panel featured:

The session offered plenty of inspiration and advice on the different ways journalists and news outlets can curate content from across the web, whether within standard articles, on the homepage,  through a liveblogs or through special multimedia projects which work with social media to present a window into the discussion taking place around an event.
