James Ball
James Ball is a data journalist working on the Guardian’s investigations desk. James joined the Guardian from Wikileaks, where he worked on analysing and investigating the embassy cables release.
During his previous role as development producer of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, he worked as chief data analyst for Dispatches: the secret Iraq files, Al Jazeera’s Iraq War Logs coverage and iraqwarlogs.com.
Other stories include investigations into public sector pay, Zac Goldsmith’s election spending, supermarket price fixing, compensation in Afghanistan and cash-for-influence.
James has produced stories from data for Panorama, Channel 4 News, the Sunday Telegraph, the Times, and the Independent on Sunday.
James lectures on data journalism for the MA Investigations course at City University, and is a data trainer for the Centre of Investigative Journalism.
