Data visualisation platform Tableau and SAM Desk, which helps newsrooms find and curate content from social media, are the latest sponsors of July’s news:rewired event.
With only three weeks to go, there are fewer than 10 tickets left for Journalism.co.uk’s digital journalism conference at the headquarters of MSN UK in London, on Thursday 16 July. 
Speakers from Tableau and SAM Desk join a host of experts in their field, including keynote speaker Emily Bell, director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia Journalism School.
Tableau data analyst Sophie Sparkes will lead a lunchtime workshop showing attendees how the organisation’s free Tableau Public software can create interactive visualisations from data sets.
James Neufeld, founder of SAM Desk, will join a workshop about sourcing stories and contacts on social media, detailing how his platform uses geo-location to find videos and content posted to social networks around the world.
Other sessions and workshops on the day include best practice in live and breaking news situations; identifying and amplifying unheard voices in society through journalism; mobile journalism skills; ideas for mobile video; new thinking in online comments and communities; and more.
There are still spaces left on the news:rewired+ training day on Friday 17 July, where Bellingcat founder Eliot Higgins will show attendees how to use open source tools and new techniques to investigate stories, as he has done in Ukraine with the crash of flight MH17.
The other courses, mobile journalism skills with Robb Montgomery and social media content strategies with Sue Llewellyn, are now sold out.
There are still tickets left to the conference, available for £165 +VAT, but they are selling fast with only seven left at the time of writing. Tickets include access to all the sessions and workshops, lunch and refreshments, and networking drinks after the main event.
Tickets to news:rewired+, including the full conference on Thursday 16 July and attendance to the training day on open source investigative tools with Eliot Higgins, are £335 +VAT, representing a 17.5 per cent discount on the standard ticket price when bought separately.
