The Journalism.co.uk team has been hard at work making the final preparations for the newsrewired digital journalism conference, taking place at Reuters in London next week on 19 July. In between prepping the information sheets for delegates and the swag bags, we have also added two more speakers to our panel on election reporting and political journalism.
We are very happy to announce that Anushka Asthana, joint political editor, the Guardian, and Christian Broughton, editor, The Independent, will be joining a panel discussing election coverage, reporting on polls, and making political journalism more engaging, alongside Guy Faulconbridge, Reuters UK bureau chief, and Kate McCann, senior political correspondent at The Telegraph.
A highly-accomplished political journalist, Anushka is the Guardian’s joint political editor. Previously she was senior political correspondent at Sky News, chief political correspondent and a columnist at The Times and, before that, policy editor and deputy news editor at The Observer.
Christian was appointed editor of Independent Digital in 2012. The Independent is now a digital-only operation, having published its final edition of the print daily in March 2016. Christian will be chairing the panel, as well as giving delegates insights into his team’s take on election coverage.
As practical, hands-on learning is at the heart of newsrewired, Journalism.co.uk is also hosting a full day of training after the conference, on 20 July, where delegates can learn more about 360-degree video, digital storytelling, and social video. Find out more about the training day and how to register here.
