Design thinking and user-centred innovation can be essential approaches to innovating content, process and product for news media. Hosted by the Media Innovation Studio from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), this session introduces a range of innovation-focussed tools to help identify problems and create solutions as part of pragmatic approaches. These are tried-and-tested methods that can help align innovation with an organisation’s strategic goals – helping to create real-world solutions spanning product, process or market position.
The workshop is taken from UCLan’s Journalism Innovation and Leadership programme. This programme offers a suite of flexible, part-time postgraduate courses to foster the next generation of diverse news media innovators and leaders our global industry needs to thrive. Supported by the Google News Initiative and International Media Support, the accredited, 30-week course combines cutting-edge industry insights, pragmatic academic expertise and real-world learning projects to create meaningful impact.
