Simon Perry

Simon runs the Isle of Wight news site VentnorBlog with his wife Sally. Started nearly five years ago, the site has published more than 8,000 articles and recently won Best UK Hyperlocal Site at the Talk About Local awards.

Perry has been intimately involved with computers since the video game Defender first took hold of, then short-circuited, his young mind at the start of the 1980s. There was no clue that running Fidonet discussion boards in the 1200/75 baud dial-up days would have led to community involvement continuing to be central to what he does.

After pioneering broadband TV way-too-early while running award-winning LemonTV back in 1999, Simon cross-trained as a journalist ten years ago. He’s appeared in the Guardian, on BBC TV, radio and online.
