Monica Sarkar has more than 13 years of experience working for the world’s leading news organisations. In her current role as senior editor for CNN International in London, she leads and mentors a global team and oversees the network’s international homepage strategy. Collaborating across teams, she ensures that CNN’s editorial voice resonates across digital platforms, from breaking news push alerts to in-depth analyses.
In March 2025, Monica was one of 34 global journalists selected for the prestigious Poynter Leadership Academy for Women.
Monica has also produced and commissioned a wealth of distinctive content. And as a staunch advocate for inclusion, she has championed initiatives that platform minority voices.
Outside of the newsroom, she is editing the first draft of her debut fiction novel that explores the Indian diaspora experience in London, which has already been shortlisted for various accolades.
