Fireside chat | The next big topic: What have we learned from covid-19 for covering climate change?

According to the United Nations, the climate crisis is the defining issue of our time with an impact that is global in scope and unprecedented in scale. Journalism has a hugely important and positive role to play in this crisis. Journalism can help in educating the public about the scientific facts of climate change, in scrutinising policies as well as corporate strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and in discussing consumer behaviours and their consequences for the climate.

Wolfgang Blau is currently conducting interviews with climate journalists and journalism researchers on all continents to learn about the challenges and opportunities they see for climate journalism and the relevant lessons their newsrooms have learned from covering covid-19.
