How local publishers lead newsroom innovation in the UK

Like many online local publishers, Lincolnshire’s news outlet The Lincolnite struggled to integrate a paywall with a solution for a direct relationship with readers, which would also give it control over ads and data harvesting.

That was 13 years ago. As no suitable product came up, the publisher created an all-encompassing system that would allow it to publish and monetise local content.

In Wales, new platform Ping! distributes content from independent publishers, allowing regional and national titles to republish and pay for local stories.

We will hear from both organisations about pioneering innovative solutions to industry’s main pain points, and share tips on how to embark on your own innovation journey.
